Last weekend we were in the studio with Alt-J. These words from the team...Thank you is too small a word to describe the gratitude to Alt J for scoring our soundtrack. We are still in post production and hope to have a finished film soon. Then to get it in front of an audience!
If you haven't seen Steven Soderbergh's State of Cinema presentation at this years San Francisco International Film Festival then you should. It is an insightful, funny and sometime disheartening piece about the film industry in the States, in particular the studio system. For any young producer like myself its a must watch, to understand what exactly you are up against in the market when developing your own films.

Another day and another exciting production to tell you about. Wingbeat Pictures are collaborating with the amazing director Jack Weatherley. We met Jack at the BFI London Film Festival in 2011 where both our films where premiering. A year later, some black coffee and a few pints later we are planning to go into production at the end of January 2013 on Jack's latest short film - 'Pieces'.

I'm delighted to announce that just before Christmas 2012 we wrapped on our feature 'Leave to Remain'. Thank you to all the amazing cast and crew. It was hard slog though an amazing journey. The big news was that the great Toby Jones joined the cast of young actors we trained.

Great news!! The feature film 'Leave to Remain' that Indefinite Films asked me produce alongside the brilliant Kate Cook is going into production. We start filming in November this year and are currently recruiting our cast engaging with refugee centres, college and youth theatres. The film is directed by BAFTA winner Bruce Goodison.

I'm pleased to report that 'Meconium' has been selected to screen at this years prestigious Hamptons International Festival. If only I could join the film there. Congratulations to all the team and if you happen to be at the festival please cheer loud and hard for us.
As we head towards another summer, we're gearing up for another Leave2Remain Film Academy. Check out this video to find out more about the Academy and keep your fingers crossed we can go into production for the Leave2Remain feature film.

To say I am excited is an under statement. I am pleased to announce that Rosanne Flynn's short film 'Meconium' that I produced with Johnny Lewsley has been accepted by the 55th BFI London Film Festival and will be premiering at the National Film Theatre Screen 1 on the 24th October. The NFT 1, one of the best and biggest screens in the country. It will be amazing and incredible to see it in such a prestigious venue.
Congratulations to all the cast and crew many of whom I am hoping can join us on the night. And a big thank you to Film London and the BFI London Film Festival for screening the film as part of the prestigious London Calling showing.
The first time the Wingbeat logo will be on the National Film Theatre's screen, and I hope not the last.
For movie and TV lovers this site is a must.

I have just found out that the latest short film I co-produced, 'Meconium', is up for Film London's Best of Boroughs Award, the Bob's, after being selected by the panel of the North London Film Fund. We get an evening at BAFTA, see the film screened in the Princess Anne Theatre and get a chance to win a cash prize! I'll post the voting details once everything is out.

I'm chuffed to report that Wingbeat Pictures has been chosen to take part in this years Edinburgh International Film Festival Talent Lab. It is an amazing scheme. A whole host ot networking events and 1 to 1 sessions are organised specifically for you to meet with leading industry lights.

Check out this teaser for the new short film from Park Chan-wook shot on an iPhone.
The film was reportedly made for $130,000 and was totally shot on the iPhone 4. I haven't seen the film yet but the Wall Street Journal reported:
"The short is a fantastical tale that begins with a middle-aged man fishing one afternoon and then, hours later at night, catches the body of a woman. The panicked man tries to undo the intertwined fishing line, but he gets more and more entangled. He faints, then wakes up to find himself in the white clothes that the woman was wearing. The movie’s point of view then shifts to the woman and it becomes a tale of life and death from a traditional Korean point of view.
The quality of the cinematography is quite good, except for a little shakiness in the beginning. And the fact that the screen is coarse works to the film’s advantage, especially on the night scenes given its life-and-death theme."
When announcing the film last week Park Chan-wook told reporters:
“The new technology creates strange effects because it is new and because it is a medium the audience is used to,” Park told reporters Monday. ”There are some good points of making a movie with the iPhone as there are many people around the world who like to play and have fun with them. Compared to other movie cameras, the iPhone was good because it is light and small and because anyone can use it,” he said.
